loftsoul is the moniker of renowned dj uchikawa masahiko. he has been a dj for more than 25 years, and is deeply involved with the japanese nightclub scene since its early days. his borderless and genre-straddling playing style, from soul, jazz, dance classics, deep house, to techno tells of the impassioned music life of dj uchikawa masahiko. in addition to running regular parties at his club loft in nagano, (which has hosted djs such as joe claussell, jerome sydenham and glenn underground) and premier at loop, uchikawa has been recording tracks as loftsoul, and collaborating with pianist makoto kuriya as rhythm of elements. >soul inspiration< sees loftsouls continued collaboration with chicago house stalwart glenn underground alongside ricardo miranda aka the latin soul brothas. >soul inspiration< is a deliciously deep groove with trademark virtuoso piano for some esoteric soulful dance floor action. the b-side sees the latin soul brothas slow it down for them electronic soul of the moog mix. finally, dj uchikawa and hide koyama provide an essential dub.

jeremy greenspan, best known as the singer for junior boys, presents his debut solo productions on caribou/daphnis jialong label. apparently the first of a few 12 inches for greenspan this year, this 1st edition is a stripped-down disco dedication. a-sides >crown princess< works with a paucity of elements - hi-hat/kick pattern and trickling, silvery arpeggios with a clear streak of jbs melodic magic. flipsides >guu< is more experimental, sounding something like a berghain residents offbeat b-side reduced for more hypnotic indie/disco appeal. another good twelve from this limited imprint - get in while you can.

spearheaded by stuart leath, emotional rescue is a label committed to unearthing forgotten gems and giving them the exposure they richly deserve, with all releases officially licensed by the artist and remastered in full. this 12 inch sees two classic tracks by the world music collective suns of arqa take pride of place. incorporating elements of raga and dub, >brujo magic< is a much more straightforward dancefloor number than its description would suggest, with its rolling bassline and vocoder effects fusing irresistibly with its psyche-rock styles. on the b-side, >ananta snake dance< combines traditional indian percussion and harmonium with conventional drumming to create something completely unique. a strong start to what will no doubt be an indispensable label.

the fifth release on baud music is the 2029 ep by dario zenker aka 4.26 from munich. distorted dub imitations rooted in a rhythmic foundation, supplemented with penetrating driving shakes, shape the character of the first track the chief. a floating, thumping bass line and claps with elegant dreamy strings characterize the second track least one on the a side. the flip side welcomes us with sherhood with his straight solid beat and a dominant, catchy hook. alen combines dubtechno and dupstep into free-floating wave elements and obscures the perception of the 4/4 time, which transfers the listener into a state of suspense.

if it would not be so cold outside, the latest shot of insistmusic would become an instant party classic. what ping! from thuringia have delivered this time at least definitely feels that way. the third edition of the frankfurt based vinyl label presents an intelligent, groovy techno: predictable enough to entrain, diversified enough to pleasantly surprise. the opening track depature marches across the dance floor, picking up the playful dancers with its funky offbeat elements in the beginning and taking them on an,ecstatic journey with its cleverly placed breaks. in the remix by label mate sascha sonido depature catches a touch of tribal techno moving the track with its vocals like rolling sound figures a good bit further into the house cosmos.

after releasing some cross-eyed dance floor burners on district of corruption, little helpers and bar25, pablo roman alcalá aka beaner brought some seriously sexy bent grooves over to brooklyn for those ever lasting late night benders. his first ep for thema was a dark and tangled ode to the drug-addled prose of author, denis johnson, which was well received by a slew of various deranged djs. this time he returns to stake his place on the dance floor with four deep, fractured after-hours jams. the name mixed doubles is apt, as youll find the pairings of unlikely elements on these tracks aligning nicely… before they are slowly pried apart. of course, thats when things truly get interesting

bristol based mensah anderson delivers something a little different from his current output and dj sets for his first release on deep medi. the gambia was picked up by mala almost two years ago and has yet to leave his record bag. it featured heavily in mala?s xlr8r?s podcast, which was voted best of 2011. ?the gambia? is a slow burning, dark minimal and heavily tribal journey taking in elements of techno, afrobeat with a touch of danchall, this output leans more towards mensah?s alias ?new york transit authority? than previous mensah releases and also shows the diversity of mensah as a producer. ?trailing moons of saturn? on the flip takes on a more laid back and cinematic approach with it?s subtly layered synths, thunderous bass stabs and intergalactic rave vibes and effects.

this band from houston, texas scored several hits with >i cant stop dancing<, >tighten it up< and >strategy<.
archie bell & the drells released seven albums in ten years and the tension that existed on their previous two records, which slipped back and forth across the disco/funk divide, is gone here. >strategy<, including honky tonk pianos, swelling strings sections, thumping basslines and soul singing background vocalists making this one of their best albums. elements of barry white and harold melvin making this album a full disco album. it made it to #37 in the r&b charts, and music on vinyl has the honour to re-release it for the first time on vinyl since its original release.

rino cerrone solution unrilis008 rino cerrone continues a superb run of form that has made 2011 one of the veteran producers vintage years in terms of production output.solution decreasing day on the italian producers unrilis imprint is a typically no-nonsense slice of contemporary techno with a focus on unrelenting groove and dancefloor impact.lead track solution pairs pulsing bottom end with delayed flourishes and uncompromising percussion to create a powerful yet subtle effect.arrangement,as always with cerrone,is key makes much of the tracks minimal elements.decreasing day is a more detailed and darker affair.heavily textured,its dense palette of sinister, bubbling sounds makes for an almost industrial referencing cut that takes no prisoners whatsoever with ever increasing builds and drops.

here uto karem returns to plus 8 for his second release on the label, with the two tracks he serves up - take control and all over you - continuing in the rising italian stars good run of form. as well as being an in-demand remixer, dj and producer, karem also runs his own agile recordings imprint on which he explores the same deep techno rhythms and loopy hypnotism as he does with his two original tracks here.take control is a liquid track which builds in looped layers through piston pumping percussion, up-right beats and plenty of melodic drama. though it pushes on from left to right in true plus 8 style, the warmth and atmosphere that surrounds the main beats and bass is what really sets the track alight. all over you again features a crisp, almost dry production style as various percussive elements flesh out a 4/4 techno groove. hidden within each bar are some wooden sounding hits and various melodic notes, all of which are heart-warming additions to a killer dancefloor groove. as well as this, there is a more driving dub version of take control which canters on a knife edge for its six minute duration, closing out another efficient and streamlined techno release on plus 8.

lukes angers ace new dinked 7 inch label returns with part.3 for 2012 ! comes on slinky clear vinyl in a clear poly bag. super limited copies for distro, restrictions may apply . >duke slammer is, if you might wonder, luke’s anger in tight lycra pants who is suddenly making something between boogie and skweee. heavily infected with the purple and the disco funk vibe this sweetness is funky as hell!< (lowriders blog).. these records make their intentions clear from the outset, raw swung-out drum machine beats and squelchy moog basslines combine with sleazy pads and wiggly worm lead synths, all the necessary elements for a tasty funk formula! immediate comparisons have been drawn with early 80s synth-funk stars such as parliament, george clinton and zapp, as well as new school disco producers from dam-funk to space dimension controller. all tracks were created on the teenage engineering op-1 and uploaded straight from the synth direct to the mastering house, boom

after a break for over a year pattern repeat is back again with another two tracks on their own label. both kenneth & resoe has been really busy last year, so it has been difficult to meet up in the studio. but now they had the time to finish two tracks of deep dirty techno from the capitol of denmark copenhagen. again they set it of with raw dirty dub infected grooves and the a side starts up right away with the dub elements intact, and then keeps building through the rest of the track. after the short break a hypnotic atmosphere kicks off in best pattern repeat style. the b side starts slowly with an almost alfred hitchcock kind of atmosphere, with a dull kick underneath. the track keeps gettin more dirty through the 6 min. and 15 secs. it last, with more distortion added to the dub stabs. its a good way that kenneth & resoe returns since the last 12 inch they put out in december 2010, to set the stage for 2012.

roberto clementi hails from a small town on italys east coast somewhere between riccione and rome. he is much more of an inventive sound designer as opposed to an average music producer. his tunes range from deep and lush to uplifting and party-pumping - often fueled by minimal subby basslines, retro-ish melodic elements, elegantly cut-up vocals, and an overall warm, analog feel. he currently has releases and remixes on labels like unfoundsound, monique musique, distric raw, undercut, stolen moments, manual music, kompass musik, suara, greel pound, sk supreme, and others. he is also one-half of i-rob alongside roby dj, and they have releases on labels like autist, tenax recordings, clasque musique, and others. his debut ep for steadfast features 3 techno trax ranging in mood and atmosphere but all sharing a perfect dancefloor sensibility and top-notch production. brendon moellers reshape aint half bad either.

the see it through ep is the debut release from kris le vay. the eponymous a side is the most dance floor orientated track, with kicking drums and a driving, melodic bass line guaranteed to get the crowd moving. its also an awesome headphone experience, with involved, complex percussive elements that keep the ear interested and euphoric breakdowns that truly pull at the heartstrings. the b1, entitled melt, is a cheeky little number that bounces around with plenty of polyrhythm. the counterpoint between the deep bass and twinkling top melody leads to the unconventional, yet mesmerising breakdown. the release is rounded off by one hot ride, which is one hot track! starting with ominous dark synths that spin themselves into a stomping hip-hop tempo beat, this anthemic rich blend of sound winds itself up from a menacing introduction on an exhilarating journey through a complex and intricate soundscape. limited to 300 colour vinyl.

having already appeared on r&s with a remix of model 500 and a track on the iotdxi compilation named >ralph< which showcased his singing voice for the first time, this two track single seems like the natural stepping stone from bullions previous work. replacing what would previously have been samples with his own vocals and instruments played by both himself and some friends, >say arr ee< and >what does she know< continue to show bullion as a music lover of many styles who can identify and combine those elements with an air of sympathetic range and still have a sense of clarity and cohesion.

volta is one of the most sought after producers in russia. one of the newest members to the balance music groups family and he brings versatility like no other producer out there. his productions go in every direction from cosmic disco to deep techno. he is also known as isaev and his other alias common people under the bal-ance alliance anchor. this young producer has set the course for the next generation of future producers. not only is he a producer but his live sets are second to none, and we are glad to have him in the family. the first song is empire times which is a throwback to the early nineties classic new york signature four on the floor sound with fuel injected synths and a great dance floor peak time get down groove. the second song is curious dreams this song has so many different elements, it is by far one of my favorites of the ep, it has an 80&#8223,,,s sound that crosses many different genres of music from disco to classic electro with a splash of house. the third song is called purple train another fantastic take on his production skills with this massive deep techno heater that will get the crowd moving with its deep chords and its lush drum programming makes it dance floor friendly for sure..then last but not least we have song four called ruby nights this song brings a minimal broken beat sound that has the elements of house with a twist. we at fi-nale are happy to have volta cab as a member and we want to share his gifts with you. we would like to thank you for your loving support. stay true to the roots. love you

we are back and happy to present crimecity discos third release! this time we have our old friend josef jaktmark on both sides, the young mans first own record, nattugglor ep. nattugglor is a swedish expression for creatures of the night. the a-side and title track, nattugglor, is a stripped down micro-house track with a building beat, melancholic melodies and snappy hi-hats. flip the record and you ll find the b-side, vacuum. a darker track with a massive, heavy kick and dubby elements. a perfect ep for the cold and dark nights. crimecity disco is a diy house label based in berlin, with the heart in malmö, sweden.

human woman is the new signing on hfn music, made up of two very promising artists from iceland, gisli galdur (aka galdur) of prolifi c icelandic band trabant, and producer jón atli helgason (aka sexy lazer). coming together in the studio the pair have forged a fantastic fusion of modern electronic pop, with their debut single, ‚delusional‘. the ep release, which will be accompanied by a music video, serves as a teaser for the upcoming debut album, which is planned for spring 2012. taking influences right across the board, the duo have cooked up a sensual, catchy indie-dance track that’s pleasingly reminiscent of the 80s, yet carries a great modern sheen thanks to the production skills of human woman. cinematic, feel-good music for travelling, for friends, for living! denmark‘s wonder kid kasper bjørke is fi rst to get his hands on ‚delusional‘, introducing a straighter groove which leans more towards the slow-housedisco fraternity in this slow-cooking remix. berlin‘s vincenzo then takes it even more cosmic with a bass heavy club mix that maintains the slow tempo yet elevates us to a more hypnotic plain. clean, pure elements greet us in this luxury remix from the emotive house master. zev from wolf & lamb then has his say with his ‚brooklyn beatdown mix‘, breaking up the beats and tripping things out with some real old-school new york vibes.

for the inside job ep, beat pharmacy leaves dub in the background, taking things in a more straight ahead house and techno direction. percussive without being oppressively banging, melodic without excessive nooding, tracks like >inside job< and >comet< nevertheless retain the intense attention to subtle detail that define moellers more dubwise productions. >in a trance in france< takes things into a deeper more hypnotic realm, and >hootin & tootin< toughens things up with an ominous analog bassline and thunderous kick drums sure to ignite a mainroom dancefloor. yet even here, echoes and melodic elements sweep through the mix, lest you forget who was working the boards.

after the last crazy studio session, matt k created a brandnew remix from the legendary release from carsten fietz s rappelkiste. matt k s new remix is based on a crazy percussive baseline with some tribal elements. on the flipside we release the original mix from 1998 again, because it was a long time out of print !

just like different fishes can be found in different grounds, also the acoustic tales of the micronaut take place in different regions of the emotional landscape: sometimes warm, sometimes fresh – sometimes calm and stagnant, sometimes lively and floating. and just like all the fishes are connected by the water surrounding them, also this album has its connecting element: a very individual and independent groove. this groove comes with a lot of surprises. for instance, when a guitar chord from the acoustic band atmosphere of gruen- dling suddenly gets tangled up in a loop and introduces an unexpected but coherent change into the direction of broken, electronic beats. or when the emotional world music elements of schleie mix up with exciting halfstep rhythms. sophi- sticated arrangements, unusual instrumentations and intense emotions- these are the main attributes of friedfisch . though the experimental character of this work does not really aim the dance floor, it still keeps connected to this place: two sensitive remixes by mollono.bass represent the upbeat for an entire series, being exclusively released on vinyl.
